\"Fumigation<\/a><\/p>\n

There are multiple options in the market to exterminate Drywood Termites. The most commonly known and used is Structural Fumigation<\/a>. This is a great method to use as it\u2019s guaranteed to kill all of the drywood termite colonies that exist in the structure even in wall voids or in the structure framing. There is also Localized Treatments<\/a> that can exterminate the termites, which are more affordable than fumigation, and you do not have to leave your home for 3 days to take care of the problem. Both of these sound like they are great solutions to use when removing all drywood termite colonies in your house, but which one is the best for your specific case?<\/p>\n

The best treatment method for a specific property will change depending on many factors and the best person to let you know is a Licensed Inspector. If your home is filled with drywood termites from left to right and front to back then the best case will be to use Fumigation to exterminate them. When there is evidence that termites are infesting your house framing or wall voids is another great example of when to Fumigate a structure, this is because to locally treat those area(s) holes in the interior drywall will have to be made to locate and treat the infestation which might make it a larger and more expensive project that what it has to be. Fumigation seems like the best option to use when eradicating drywood termites in your home, but what if you only have one small infestation?<\/p>\n

In many newer proprieties or the ones where the owners have given the necessary maintenance you will find that Localized Treatments will be the best solution. Localized treatments are intended to exterminate colonies that can be successfully treated, located and that do not go into inaccessible areas. For example many times properties built on 2000 or newer have patios or decks with exposed wood that are loved by Drywood Termites. Many times some decking or a post get infected, imagine if you had to fumigate to take care of this small infestation. In a case like a local termite control treatment will be more effective than fumigation. Another great example is in a older house that was fumigated a couple of years ago and that has a new infestation in your exterior eaves, again a localized termite control treatment will be your best solution. In a case where a re-infestation occurred after a fumigation it is also a good idea to locally treat because not only will it take care of the drywood termite colony but it will also protect that area against further attacks, some chemicals like Termidor give you up to 10 years or residual protections which will bring you peace of mind knowing that your property is protected.<\/p>\n
